8 AI Music Generators You Need to Know

Learn how to Create new music using Artificial Intelligence.

AI has been on everyones radar recently, and while it can be great to use for information, efficiency and automation, It’s now becoming more creative, with new AI tools available for you to create various forms of art with.

Since we’re starting to see more examples of AI music in mainstream media, and recent talks about it’s regulation and use in the music industry, I think it’s time to take a look into the actual AI music tools being used.

You’ve probably already seen, Text-to-Image AI, where you write a brief description and the AI generates a unique image based on what you wrote.

Well now there’s Text-to-Song or Text-to-Music. Similarly all you have to do is write a description of the music or sounds you want to hear, and an AI program will output fully composed music based on the text you provided.

Here are the 8 AI music generators that are worth checking out!

8 AI MUSIC GENERATORS

8. Aiva

AIVA is fairly straight forward. Your homepage will start with en empty list of compositions, this is where all of the AI generated music you create on the platform will end up.

Click “Create a Track” to get started, where you can start from a style, from a chord progression, step by step, or by influence.

Styles has pre selected genres to choose from, chord progression allows you to cycle throug various progressions (App only), and influence allows you to upload music to influence the AI music generator.

It automatically generates instrumental music based on your selection, and you can use the Editor to listen to individual stems. Aiva does require you to download a desktop app to use its full editing and realtime playback functionality.

Aiva is an A.I. beat construction platform and requires their desktop software for full functionality. The Free plan allows 3 downloads per month, while paid plans start at about $15/month for 15 downloads per month. Copyright owned by AIVA unless you purchase their highest paid plan.

7. Veed

Veed is a platform with multiple AI tools for content creation. This platform uses technology built by Mubert, an AI music generator which is coming up in the list.

Although, Veed’s user interface offers more customization options and a more capable editor than whats available in Mubert.

This AI music generator sometimes will go offline, so I’m not sure how reliable it will be in the longterm.

6. Soundful

Soundful features a modern website which kind of resembles Spotify. The Home screen allows you to browse styles, genres, as well as featured and trending tracks generated by other users. You can either download them or edit them further to create something different.

Of course, you can start fresh and generate your own AI music from scratch.

You’ll pick a genre, style, BPM, and key. A track is then generated based on your selections. Tracks will be mixed/mastered when downloaded.

Soundful is another production based AI music generator, no lyrics. This AI music generator actually has a quality sound, the production is basic but pretty good with a bit of editing.

Soundful is a quality production based AI music generator with modern sounds, but music is not based on your own unique text. They have a Free plan with unlimited generations and 1 download per month, while paid plans start around $5/month with 100 monthly downloads.

5. Mubert

Mubert has been working with AI and music generation for a quite a bit now. This platform does include text-to-music, where you write a prompt similar to ChatGPT and Mubert outputs music production based on what you write.

To generate AI music with Mubert, you’ll enter your text prompt. Choose track type (track, loop, mix, jingle). Set your track duration from 5s - 25min. Then click generate.

To use the music that you generated commercially, you must first license them. You also cannot register any tracks with ContentId or upload to Spotify, Apple Music, etc.

Mubert is AI text-to-music which is fun and innovative, the quality and accuracy of genres are currently mediocre, but some genre’s like Pop work just fine. They have a free plan with 25 track generations, while monthly paid plans start at $12/month for 500 track generations.

4. Musiclm

MusicFX (MusicLM) by Google, is another AI text-to-music generator.

It' has a minimalistic single page website just for prompting music. You simply describe the music within the text box and hit ‘Generate’. It then generates an instrumental beat, where you can - edit the song length (up to 70s free), loop it, or download it.

MusicFX is an interesting AI music generator which could be useful for unique music production.

It’s in beta right now and can be difficult to find, but you can test it out for free through Google’s AI Test Kitchen here.

3. Soundraw

Soundraw has a simple interface and acts more like a AI music workstation versus an AI social platform.

You can choose all or any from - the length of song, the tempo you’d like for it, a genre, mood, and/or theme. Soundraw will start generating various sample of music created by their AI, where you can then customize, add, remove the featured instruments in the sample.

Soundraws AI music generator produces beats based on the selections you make.

Paid monthly plans are offered to creators starting at $20/month giving you commercial use licenses, while the Music Indusrty Professionals account also gives you license to distribute music to your socials, and Spotify, Apple Music etc. while keeping the recording royalties.

These last two AI music generators are going to blow your mind, and probably what you’re looking for most.

2. Udio

Udio is text-to-song, meaning you write a prompt to describe a song/music, and it’s artificial intelligence will generate a fully composed song including lyrics.

This platform features more of a social aspect to it as you can listen to staff picks, follow other users, listen to trending songs, etc.

To use Udio you simply enter your prompt in the box at top of screen for your song description and hit ‘Create’.

  • They also give you the option to add suggested tags to your prompt. Lyrics will automatically generate, but you can choose to add your own, or just generate the instrumental.

  • Based on your prompt Udio will create two 30 seconds tracks, which you can choose to extend, remix, or download.

I think the vocal models in Udio are significantly better than many other AI generators. The production created sounds a bit basic but the vocals sound realistic enough to fool most of us.

Free plan available with 10 credits a month or a paid monthly subscription starting at $10/month.

1. Suno

Suno is another AI music generator where you enter a prompt and it will generate a complete song based on your description. It not only creates the production, but also includes lyrics and melodies.

Similar to Udio, Suno has a social aspect to its platform, with trending AI songs, community playlists, and user accounts to follow.

To use Suno, enter any prompt into the text box in the home screen and click ‘Create’. It then generates two samples based on your prompt, along with the lyrics in text format.

  • Suno also has “Custom Mode” - where you can start with a few of your own song lyrics and choose a style (mood, vibe, tempo, voice). Since this AI music generator creates full songs with lyrics as a default, you can also choose to generate just the instrumental beat.

It features quality production and the vocals/lyrics aren’t too bad either. The vocals aren’t perfect as you can tell its not fully natural, but with this you can easily find great ideas for new lyrics or melodies that you could probably record better yourself.

Impressively, these songs could pass as complete songs, the AI has managed to craft songs that feel more than just a snippet or a general tune. Its fully produced with intros, transitions, hooks, climactic elements, etc.

Free plans are available with 10 monthly songs and non-commercial terms, while paid monthly subscriptions with commercial rights start at $8/month for 500 songs.
